A series of bolt action rifles designed and manufactured by Mauser, chambered for 7.92×57mm and utilizing a 5-round internal magazine. The Mauser 98 is recognizable by its two handguard metal bands on the front (one serves for sling swivels), ability to store a cleaning rod inside the lower handguard, exposed barrel, and semi-grip buttstock.
