In Kantai Collection, enemy lifebuoys are one of Escort Water Princess's four kinds of companions, the ones that make part of her belt(?). They also often appear along with gambier bay (kancolle), being the unabyssalized Escort Water Princess. Their unexpected popularity essentially turned them into mascots for the Abyssals and the series in general.
