A pair of branched solid bone horns-like structures that arise from the frontal bone on the head of animals of the deer family. Unlike horns, antlers are branched, quickly develop underneath a covering of furry skin called velvet, consist of dead bone once fully developed, and regularly shed over the course of the animal's life (most commonly every year).
